When a Grade II listed independent school in Banbury found themselves with an unexpected water damage crisis they called on us to find a solution that would respect the building’s heritage and meet modern day standards.
Background:
We won the tender and were tasked with restoring the heritage ceilings of this beautiful school. The project followed significant water damage so it wasn’t just about repairs, it was about restoring the building and its historical importance.
Goals:
Our goal was simple: to restore the heritage ceilings to their former state. This wasn’t just about fixing the damage; it was about preserving history and so future generations of students could continue to be inspired by their beautiful learning environment.
Scope:
We knew the needs of a live school so we committed to completing all work during the UK summer holiday period. This meant zero disruption to the academic calendar and we had the necessary access to complete our full restoration plan.
Execution:
Our team got started by removing the temporary plasterboard that had been put in place to cover the water damage. With the full extent of the damage exposed we instigated a full reinstatement of the original lath and plaster ceiling and cornice in the main foyer and the room above.
We used traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to ensure every detail was replicated. The project didn’t stop at the ceilings; we decorated the whole of the affected areas to ensure a complete finish.
Results:
