While the water board had confirmed the leak’s existence, they were unable to intervene as it fell under the client’s responsibility.
Goals:
Our primary objective was to address this emergency promptly. We aimed to arrive onsite well within the 4-hour window, thus minimizing water loss and potential property damage.
Scope:
Demonstrating our rapid response capabilities, our skilled engineer arrived onsite at 2 PM, just two hours after receiving the call. Immediately, we began excavating the area to expose the affected pipework, working efficiently to identify the source of the leak.
Execution:
As we collaborated with another contractor to rectify the leak, we encountered unforeseen challenges. The pipe’s location, entangled in tree roots, required specialized equipment for access. Despite the late hours (8 PM) and closed equipment rental shops, we didn’t let this setback hinder our progress. Understanding the urgency of the situation, with the client forced to shut off their main water supply, we took proactive steps to ensure continuity of service:
- Arranged for out-of-hours labour to be onsite the following morning
- Coordinated with the client’s plumbing contractor to ensure a cohesive approach
- Prepared for early-morning equipment rental to expedite the process

- Secured and delivered a digger to the site before noon
- Facilitated plumber access to the pipework, enabling leak repair
- Identified and addressed an additional leak causing low water pressure in the pub’s bar area
