FIXED WIRE ELECTRICAL TESTING TAMWORTH

Regretably, all electrical installs (cabling, consumer boards etc) decline with both age and use. Because of this wear and tear, all electrical installations have to be tested at regular intervals.

Fixed wire testing

What does your fixed wire electrical test look for?

These kinds of checks determine and ensure that all electrics are in a safe and acceptable condition to be continued to be used. As soon as an inspection has been carried out and is sufficient, Arrow are able to issue you with an Electrical Condition Report or EICR for short.

Our fixed wire electrical test will detect and look for:

  • Determine if any electrical equipment or circuits are overloaded.
  • Detect risks for absence of earthing of bonding.
  • The arrow group will service any switches, sockets or light fittings. We may determine that some things need to be replaced for example older pin sockets and mounted sockets in skirting boards.
  • Pinpoint if you’ve got any fire dangers or possibility of electric shock. Similarly, any wear out which might be found.
  • Illustrate any faulty electrical work.
  • Examine any switch and control equipment and identify its suitability. We will check for items like fuse boxes with wooden backs etc and present alternatives.
  • The wiring system type and its condition. Older cables for instance, cables covered in lead, fabric or rubber might require exchanging with improved modern and longer lasting PVC covered cables.
  • The arrow group will make sure that you have sufficient notices present.
How frequent do you require a fixed wire electrical test?

It is a statutory requirement that commercial properties and properties in which the public have access; are regularly checked and that an EICR is performed on the electrical services. The time scale between testing is determined by the function and the use of the building.

It is recommended for a commercial property that a fixed wire assessment is performed a minimum of:

  • At least once every 5 years. Assessments may be conducted in a couple of ways. You can either choose a FULL 100% assessment every 5 years. The alternative choice is to have a rolling evaluation plan where by, you have a 20% check up once per annum. This also means that the electric installation is inspected once per year for faults.

There are other times when a fixed wire electrical test should be performed:

  • If you own a property and are preparing the property to be let.
  • If you are due to sell a property or purchasing a previously occupied property.

What is the EICR?

An EICR is Electrical Installation Condition Report. It is a report into the condition of the electrical installation and will highlight any electrical safety shortcomings, defects or deviations from the current revision of the electrical regulations BS7671.

The main purpose of a EICR is to report on the safety condition of an existing installation. Our reports describe with detail as to the overall condition as either ‘satisfactory’, in which case no immediate remedial work is required, or ‘unsatisfactory’ which means remedial work is required to make the installation safe to use.
