FIXED WIRE ELECTRICAL TESTING DUDLEY
Unfortunately, all components of electrical installations, including wires and consumer boards, undergo degradation due to age and use. As a result of this loss, these installations necessitate consistent testing.
The Scope of Investigation in a Fixed Wire Electrical Test
The assessments Arrow Services perform guarantee the safe and efficient functioning of your electrics. On completion of an inspection measured satisfactory, an Electrical Condition Report or EICR will be issued to you.
Our fixed wire electrical test will identify and look for:
- Verify if any electronic systems or their circuits are being pushed beyond their limits
- Recognize potential threats resulting from insufficient or missing earthing or bonding
- As part of our service, we'll take care of switches, sockets, or light fittings, where Arrow Services might spot certain items, such as worn-out pin sockets or sockets installed in skirting boards, that need updating
- Investigate if there's a presence of fire threats or possibilities for an electric shock. Analogously, stay vigilant for any identified damage
- Indicate any issues with the functioning of your electrical work
- Run a check on switches and control gear, pinpointing their adequacy. Arrow Services will identify problem areas, like fuse boxes with wooden backs, and offer suitable replacements
- When surveying the design and state of your wiring system, we may find cables wrapped in lead, fabric, or rubber that have seen better days. For these, we'd recommend updating to high-grade, durable PVC insulated cables
- Arrow services will assure that you have adequate notices present.
Establishing the right intervals for fixed wire electrical evaluations
A legal requirement calls for commercial and public-access structures to undergo frequent checks and have an EICR carried out for their electronic systems. The inspection schedule will vary according to the building's function and its extent of use.
It is recommended for a commercial property that a fixed wire inspection is carried out at least:
- Inspections are required at least once every five years. You have the flexibility to choose either a comprehensive 100% inspection every five years or take advantage of our rolling program that provides a yearly 20% inspection. The latter guarantees a yearly examination of your electrical installation for any faults.
There are other times when a fixed wire electrical test should be carried out:
- If you own a property and are preparing the property to be let
- If you are due to sell a property or purchasing a previously occupied property
What is the EICR?
An EICR, or Electrical Installation Condition Report, provides a comprehensive analysis of your electrical system. It pinpoints any potential safety issues, faults or non-compliance with the most recent version of electrical standards BS7671.
The primary role of an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is to present a faithful snapshot of an existing installation's safety status. Our in-depth reports label this condition as either 'satisfactory'—needing no immediate repairs—or 'unsatisfactory'—which signals urgent remedial action to secure safe use.
