FIXED WIRE ELECTRICAL TESTING MIDLANDS
Regrettably, the performance of all electrical installations, including wires and consumer boards, drops with time and repeated use. Hence, these systems require regular testing to ensure their efficiency.
Breaking Down the Fixed Wire Electrical Test: What Does it Include?
The purpose of these assessments is to validate and maintain the safety of all electrics. After a successful inspection, Arrow Services will grant an Electrical Condition Report, often abbreviated as EICR.
Our fixed wire electrical test will identify and look for:
- Monitor if there is any overload on your electronic equipment or circuits
- Identify any potential dangers linked to the lack of appropriate earthing or bonding
- Arrow Services will focus on keeping your switches, sockets, or light fittings in top shape and we might suggest that some components, like old pin sockets or sockets mounted on skirting boards, should be replaced
- Check out if you're exposed to any fire risks or potential electrical shocks. Just as you would, look around for any hidden damages
- Highlight any electrical work that's not functioning as it should
- Observe closely the switches and control systems to determine if they're up to par. Arrow Services will carefully examine items like fuse boxes with wooden backs and provide tailor-made replacements
- In our inspection, we'll scrutinize your wiring network, regarding its set-up and current shape. If we spot any cables aged under wrappers of lead, fabric, or rubber, they're good candidates for substitution with our contemporary PVC insulated cables
- Arrow services will assure that you have adequate notices present.
How often should fixed wire electrical tests be conducted?
Legally, commercial and public-facing properties must ensure routine evaluations, along with acquiring an EICR for their electronic services. The timescale for these inspections is dictated by the building's function and degree of use.
It is recommended for a commercial property that a fixed wire inspection is carried out at least:
- A minimum of once every five years, you need to organize inspections. Either go for an all-in space-out 100% inspection or benefit from our rolling inspection scheme which encompasses a handy 20% inspection each year ensuring your electrical installation doesn't miss out on those annual fault checks.
There are other times when a fixed wire electrical test should be carried out:
- If you own a property and are preparing the property to be let
- If you are due to sell a property or purchasing a previously occupied property
What is the EICR?
The Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) dives deep into the state of your electrical system, laying bare any safety issues, defects, or non-adherence to the present version of electrical regulations set out by BS7671.
The objective of conducting an EICR is to scrutinize the safety of a current installation. Our detailed reports deliver a status of 'satisfactory' when no immediate fix is vital, or 'unsatisfactory', prompting necessary remedial work for safe operation.
